          GENOCIDE AROUND THE WORLD

Genocide  has  occurred many times throughout history and continues to occur today. One example of genocide during the 20 century is the Holocaust which occurred in Germany , other European countries during the 1930’s and 1940’s. Another example of genocide is what occurred in the country of Cambodia during the 1970’s.
The purpose for Pol Pot’s persecution of  the Cambodian people was to ”create an agrarian utopia inspired in part by Mao Zedong’s cultural revolution”. Which he had  witness first-hand during a visit to communist China. In other words,he was trying to form a perfect place pertaining to farmers. Alternately, Hitler blamed the jews for losing ww1 and that’s why Hitler persecuted the jews. The Germans believe that the jews cheated them and their families.
The victims in Cambodia and in the Holocaust were similarly treated by their persecutors. The people in Cambodia were dying from overwork, malnutrition and disease on a “diet of one tin of rice per person  every two day”. Similarly, the jews were given very little food, such as bread, soup, and black coffee. Many died from malnutrition and starvation. Also in Night , Elie Wiesel describe a cattle train. Where if somebody drops bread on the middle of the train  the prisoners  would fight for food. They wanted food but they received little food.
Another way the victims in Cambodia and in the holocaust were similarly treated by their persecutors was the persecutors used violence to maintain control.”Anyone suspected of disloyalty

to Pol Pot, Eventually many Khmer Rouge leaders, was shot or bludgeoned with an ax''. Likewise, the
nazi soldiers used violence to maintain control.''For example, in Night , Elie Wiesel describe when the
pipel was hanged for 30 minutes and when Elie was being whipped because he saw something he wasn't supposed to see.
Genocide has happened throughout history and continues to happen. Two examples of genocide are the Holocaust and Cambodia. They treated the victims similarly by overwork them, giving them little food and using violence. Perhaps we can learn about this and we can prevent them
from happening again.
